Cat shelter program
Context
In the context of the increasing number of community cats and the challenges they bring to communities, the TNR (Capture, Sterilize, Release) Association is proving to be a valuable partner for Romanian city halls. By successfully implementing the TNR method, the association has demonstrated that it can provide effective and humane solutions for managing the stray cat population.
Project description
The TNR (Capture, Sterilize, Release) Association launched an innovative project in Sector 6, aimed at improving the living conditions of community cats. This project, carried out in collaboration with the Sector 6 City Hall through Participatory Budgeting, led to the installation of the first cat houses in the courtyards of apartment buildings in the area.
Details about the boxes
The houses are made of durable materials, weighing 100 kg each, and feature two entrances leading to two separate rooms. These shelters are designed to provide a safe and comfortable refuge for community cats, integrating harmoniously into the urban landscape. Each house is equipped with water and food bowls, thus ensuring the feline's basic needs.
Project impact
The project was enthusiastically received by the community, and residents of Sector 6 expressed their appreciation for this initiative. "Extraordinary! Admirable initiative, we appreciate it immensely!" said Carmen Dumitrescu, a resident of Str. Săndulești, highlighting the importance of these shelters in the lives of stray cats. A total of 40 shelters will be located in Sector 6.
Collaboration and community involvement
The initiative was made possible thanks to the close collaboration between the TNR Association, the City Hall of Sector 6 and the ADPDU Sector 6, who worked together to meet the needs of community cats. The local community had the opportunity to vote on this project through Participatory Budgeting, thus demonstrating their commitment to the welfare of animals in the community.
This project, unique in Romania, represents a significant step towards creating a friendlier and safer environment for stray cats. The TNR Association urges all residents to take care of these houses and the cats that will occupy them. Stay connected to follow the evolution of this project and its positive impact on the community!
The TNR Association is ready to collaborate with municipalities across Romania to implement effective community cat population management projects. Through its expertise, TNR can help create sustainable solutions that meet the needs of each community. We invite all municipalities to consider collaborating with TNR to contribute to animal welfare and improve the quality of life in their communities. Whether it is sterilization projects, education or community engagement, TNR is the partner you need to make a real difference.
