The Association focuses its efforts in sectors 5 and 6 of the Capital.
The association aims to implement the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) method to improve the lives of community cats and their relationship with the people in the community. In the long term, the vision is to stabilize and even reduce the number of stray cats, ensuring a better life for them and a peaceful coexistence with the inhabitants of the respective areas.
The TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) method consists of the following steps:
-
Capturing community cats in special cages, without sedating or injuring them.
-
Transporting cats to partner veterinary clinics.
-
Sterilization and deworming of cats.
-
Releasing cats in the same place where they were captured, after a recovery period.
This method ensures a better life for community cats and a long-term population reduction, without resorting to euthanasia or relocation, which have been shown to be ineffective and even harmful to animal welfare.
BENEFITS OF THE TNR METHOD .
Stabilizing cat colonies by stopping reproduction.
Improving the relationship between cats and humans by reducing territorial conflicts.
Eliminating stress and physical exhaustion of females caused by mating and childbirth.
Reducing the risk of disease and infection by eliminating fighting and mating behavior.
Improving the physical appearance of cats, who no longer waste resources during heat, gestation and lactation periods.
The method is humane and effective in the long term, unlike euthanasia or relocation.
The “TNR Capturare Sterilizare Eliberare” NGO Association has an important mission in managing the community cat population in Bucharest. By implementing the TNR method, the association aims to improve the lives of these animals and ensure a peaceful coexistence with the inhabitants of the respective areas.
